The first two major points I want to make regarding AMSOIL DEALER MEETINGS ARE:
Before holding meetings of your own, you should already be attending other dealer meetings and participating in them so you have some "experience" with meetings. This will give you a "feel" for how dealer meetings should be conducted.
Pick a MEETING TIME AND DATE that does not conflict with 'other activities' in your area (i.e. fairs, trade shows, or other types of activities that may 'cut down your attendance'! You should also check with a few of the 'leaders' in your group so they can suggest a date and time that THEY will be able to attend. As an example if Wednesday evening is a strong 'church night' in your area you would want to schedule your meeting on a different night. NOTE: You will never be able to schedule a date and time that EVERY dealer in your group is happy with. You have to satisfy the larger percentage of your group.
The more planning and organizing you put into your meeting the more successful it will be. First, you want to plan what you want to cover in your meeting. MAKE UP AN AGENDA and list the 3 or 4 primary things you want to discuss. Second, you want to make sure you have enough dealers in your group to make a meeting worthwhile. If you have sponsored only 2 dealers I would suggest you try to sponsor a few more dealers so you have a chance to get 5 or 6 dealers to attend your meeting. It is very important that you ASSIGN SPECIFIC DUTIES to several of your dealers so they know they will be a part of the meeting. You can even ask several dealers to "bring something" that you need to the meeting. This gives THOSE dealers a 'special reason to attend'.
SCHEDULE YOUR MEETING 90 DAYS IN ADVANCE. This will give you time to send your meeting information to AMSOIL and have it published in the Action News. It also give you plenty of time to confirm your meeting location, finish your agenda (outline) for your meeting, order any special items you may need and talk it up with your active dealers. This also gives any of your "guest speakers" time to plan the trip to your location.
You want as many "bodies" at your meeting as possible. As soon as you know your date and time for the meeting you want to MAIL A COPY OF THE AGENDA and meeting notice to every possible dealer within 100 miles of your location. This gives them time to plan, schedule their work schedules, get time off, etc. so they can be at your meeting. THREE WEEKS BEFORE YOUR MEETING you want to send another meeting announcement to every possible attendee you can find! Let me say this... if you want 20 people at your meeting you need to CONFIRM at least 50 that say they will be there! TEN DAYS BEFORE YOUR MEETING YOU WANT TO MAKE A PERSONAL PHONE CALL TO EVERY PERSON YOU MAILED AN INVITATION TO and remind them about the meeting. SEVEN DAYS BEFORE YOUR MEETING you want to send EVERYONE another post card reminding them about the meeting.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that it is not necessary to have "large" dealer meeting in expensive Motels, or other meeting rooms. You say you only have room for 4 or 5 people in your home... GREAT that is the place to start! You have to learn to walk before you can run... get started with smaller meetings and build from there. Talk to your dealers and help them sponsor more dealers and then think about "moving to a larger location".
It is extremely important that you have dealer meetings in your group. It demonstrates YOUR LEADERSHIP and your dealers will want to copy that! SCHEDULE A MONTHLY MEETING! Get your dealers in the habit of "thinking about AMSOIL at least one time per month'! DEALERS THAT HOLD MEETINGS ON A REGULAR BASIS ARE THE NEW DIRECTS OF THE FUTURE.
